"Please Help Me To Help Myself"

My name is Donnetta Hill. I'm a 33-year-old woman and mother of two daughters, ages 9 and 12 years old.

In April 1992, I was wrongly convicted and sentenced to death with a court-appointed public defender who did nothing to defend me -- he had no experience with how to handle a death penalty case. I have had three to four court-appointed public defenders working on my appeals, and none of them knew anything for years.

I have been writing attorney after attorney, explaining my situation and begging for help. Some did not respond, and those who did said they are working on other cases. I have now found a well-known lawyer who will take my case as soon as I meet his fee, and this is why I'm writing -- to plead for help.

I'm on my own and have no one else to turn to for help. I'm asking anyone who would love to see an innocent woman and mother of two prove her innocence and get off death row and return to her children to please help me raise this fee, so that I can pay for my own personal attorney. I need to raise $5,000.

All I ask for is for some help from people to send me a money order of any amount that I will put into savings until I have the full fee. If anyone isn't sure what I'm saying is true, you can contact the attorney: David B. Mischak, One Penn Square, West 30 S. Street #701, Philadelphia, PA 19102, 212-981-0999, fax 215-981-0977.

Please help me help myself.
